Photo requirements

A visa photo is usually recent, color, plain light background, full face, with no glasses, headwear, or filters. Exact size is shown in the flow.

If a photo is required, it generally must be:

  • Recent (taken within the last 6 months), in color, with a plain light background (usually white or light gray).

  • Full face, eyes open, neutral expression (no big smile), looking straight at the camera.

  • No headwear (except for religious reasons), no glasses, no shadows.

  • No filters, no digital alterations, natural skin tone.

Exact size and format depend on the destination (for example, some countries specify 35×45 mm, others 2×2 inches) and are shown during your application. If your photo doesn't meet the standard, we'll tell you before submission.
